“Mera bacha khata nahi” — “my child doesn’t eat” — is heard in almost every paediatric clinic in Pakistan. Sometimes it’s a phase of normal toddler pickiness; sometimes it signals genuine growth faltering that deserves a proper work-up.
How to know if growth is actually a problem
Feelings mislead; charts don’t. Plot your child’s height and weight on standard growth percentiles (you can do this free in our Child Growth Centre). Warning patterns include falling across two or more percentile lines, weight far below height percentile, or no weight gain over 6 months in a young child.
Common underlying causes we screen for
- Iron deficiency and low appetite cycles
- Celiac disease and gluten sensitivity (very relevant in our region)
- Recurrent infections and intestinal parasites
- Zinc, vitamin D and B12 insufficiency
- Poor meal structure: grazing, milk-overfeeding, screens at mealtime
Our approach
Dr. Shoaib Sabir combines classical homeopathic case-taking with structured nutrition planning from his MSc Public Nutrition background. Where labs are needed (CBC, ferritin, celiac serology, vitamin D), we guide testing first — treatment without a cause is guesswork. The plan typically pairs an individualised constitutional remedy with realistic, budget-aware Pakistani meal planning and clear weight-review dates.
See a doctor urgently if
Your child is losing weight, has persistent diarrhoea or vomiting, swelling of feet or tummy, or extreme lethargy — these need immediate medical evaluation.
Book a growth & nutrition consultation — bring previous records and any lab reports you have.
